When watering, make sure to lift up the leaves and water the soil directly underneath. Its large leaves can sometimes act like a bit of an umbrella and keep the roots from getting water. Perennial Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5.
