The Ferocactusemoryi, also known as the Coville Barrel Cactus, is a fascinating desert cactus and a member of the Ferocactus genus. Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico (Baja California Sur), it is also known as Ferocactuscovillei, Traveler’s friend, and Emory’s barrel cactus. Mature plants are typically less than six feet tall and more cylindrical than barrel-shaped. The Ferocactusemoryi is covered in sharp central spines that help protect it from predators and harsh environmental conditions.

The solitary barrel cactus of the Ferocactusemoryi is well-adapted to survive in arid environments. It has the ability to store water in its thick, fleshy stem, allowing it to withstand long periods of drought.
